Feb 8, Dujiangyan Hua'ai Youth Service Center launched a volunteer activity named "Little Bootblack" for the purpose of integration of the handicapped with the healthy. Volunteers from four middle and primary schools were organized to provide a charitable shoe-polishing service at Xinqi Leather-care Shop run by the handicapped. With the help of our staff, little volunteers communicated with the handicapped in the sign language. They learned how to use the apparatus to do leather-shoe cleaning and maintenance for their parents. Combining the integration of the handicapped into the healthy with youth service evokes volunteers from different ages to help the disadvantaged and encourages the young to pass on their thanks-giving to their parents. It is a good way of building strong families at the local community.
